Sensory friendly events that we are making through partnerships and all of their organizations.
Grosse Pointe Theatre
1 p.m. performance on Saturdays during the Youth on Stage productions. Past Productions include:
- Saturday, November 2 at 1 p.m. Frozen, Jr.
- Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. Spongebob, Youth Edition
Sensory-friendly performances are designed to create a welcoming and comfortable arts experience for people with autism, sensory sensitivities, or other social, learning or cognitive disabilities. This performance is also perfect for young, first-time theater goers.
For this performance we will offer:
- Advanced social narrative with pictures
- House lights will remain on
- Reduced special effects and lighting
- Reduced sound levels
- Ability to move around as needed
- Quiet space in the lobby
- Personal headphones, cushions or fidgets welcome
- Allergy-free snacks
- Visual schedule and simplified synopsis available at performance

At the Birmingham Bloomfield Vs. Utica
Autism Awareness Night.
Event includes a pre-game time with fun activities and information outreach tables. Sensory supports will include: Sound blocking ear phones, fidget toys, designated quiet/calm space.
Ticket options will include a buffet dinner option. Autism Society ticket holders will be invited to join the parade on field prior to the game. And a social media nomination contest will be held to determine who throws the ceremonial first pitch.

Immersive Disney Animation events – past in Detroit
Located in downtown at the Historic Harmony Club, this experience had monthly dates
June through September.
Sensory friendly experience Supports included:
• Reduced sound volume
• Reduced capacity
• Comfortable gallery lighting at all times, and no blackouts
• Sensitivity warnings for content
• Ability to move around as needed
• Personal headphones, cushions & fidgets provided
• Quiet Areas outside the gallery with calming environment
• Onsite family support from the Autism Society of Greater Detroit
